Ben had been associated with Radio 4 since early 1980s, where he made solo recordings ( Margaret Lynn, who played the piano with Ben, told Zhou Hao) and hosted a series of programs on string quartet literature. Radio 4 also supported Tononi string quartet, of which Ben was a founding member, that gave regular recitals and broadcasts covering a wide repertory playing in Hong Kong, Macau and China.
